Lobel Modern, opened in 1998 by Evan Lobel, showcases furniture, lighting, hand-blown glass and art by important designers from the 1940's thru the 1980's. Located in the Four Points section of lower Manhattan.

Unique artisan etagere with frame in glass with rattan wraps, caned shelf and bottom and glass shelves, American 1970's. The glass supports are quite impressive. This is a luxurious etagere that would feel right at home in Palm Beach or the Hamptons.

Remarkable liquor cabinet in Italian mahogany with chevron pattern on sides and front with two doors each displaying four exquisitely inlaid fencing motifs by Paolo Buffa, Italy 1950's. Inside are four glass shelves on each door and ten drawers with brass pulls. Original incandescent lights have been replaced with LED lights by Lobel Modern. There is one large display section at the top, and two smaller open sections below. The interior of the cabinet is covered in mirrored panels. It is locked with a brass key and has wonderful decorated legs with engraved brass sabots. Every aspect of this Buffa cabinet is superb.

4 Door credenza with bi-fold doors in tessellated walnut burl with adjustable shelves in interior by Paul Evans for Directional Furniture, American 1973. This piece has felt lining on the interior of the right door and on the shelf, perfect for dishes or valuables. These Paul Evans pieces are all unique and works of art.

Beautifully crafted chest of drawers with sliding vanity compartment on the left and lift up storage compartment on the right in walnut with dark palmwood bases and bronze pulls by De Coene Frères , Belgium 1960's. The vanity compartment is pulled forward so that a chair can be used with it. When the top is lifted, a mirror is revealed. The matching bedside tables and a large armoire are also available. The armoire has the De Coene Frères label. This has been newly refinished.

Extraordinary one-of-a-kind large credenza in walnut with hand-carved center panels with illuminated interior liquor cabinet and bar in the center, dark gray granite inset tops, and flip up top for serving by Vladimir Kagan, 1940's (signed “Kagan Dreyfuss New York / A Vladimir Kagan Design” on back). This is a very rare Kagan masterpiece. The relief carved panels are simply incredible. The bar area shelves are in white laminate so they are impervious to water/alcohol damage, as is the flip up top. There are 2 original florescent lights which are operated with a switch inside. It comes with original keys. We have never seen another example like this one.

Very rare and important "Odyssey Cabinet" with ancient Greek motif in patinated and engraved bronze and pewter with hand-painted enamels by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960’s (signed “Kelvin Philip LaVerne” on front of door). Interior has a speckled green lacquer. Drawer and shelf fronts trimmed in bronze. Every element of this cabinet is magnificent. On the left door, there is an artist sketching on the steps of the Parthenon. Kelvin LaVerne explained to Evan Lobel that he drew himself into the scene. Only a few of these were made according to Kelvin, making them extremely rare. A superb work of art.

Rare and important 4 door "Chinois Cabinet" in patinated and engraved bronze and pewter with beautiful and subtle hand-painted enamels by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960's (signed “Philip Kelvin LaVerne” on the front left door). The interior is lacquered red and the shelves are trimmed in patinated bronze. A drawer on the left side of the interior is beautifully finished as only the LaVernes could do.
