Lobel Modern, opened in 1998 by Evan Lobel, showcases furniture, lighting
and art by important designers from the 1940's thru the 1980's. These
designers include Edward Wormley, Tommi Parzinger, Harvey Probber, Vladimir
Kagan, Paul Evans, and Karl Springer amongst others. Evan Lobel was Exhibition
Coordinator of the retrospective on Harvey Probber at Baruch College in
2003. We have a particularly extensive collection of original works by Karl
Springer. Architectural Digest (10/03 "Rediscovering Karl Springer")
called Evan Lobel the "New York dealer who has been instrumental in putting
Springer back on the map."
We also feature hand-blown glass objects designed by Anzolo Fuga for
A.V.E.M. from 1955 through 1968. Lobel Modern co-published the reference
book Anzolo Fuga: Murano Glass Designer, Works for A.V.E.M. written by Rosa
Barovier-Mentasti, one of the world's leading autorities on Italian glass. The forward to
the book was written by Evan Lobel. Many articles have been
written about Lobel Modern's collection of Fuga's designs such as those in
House & Garden (cover, 12/05), Glass Quarterly (cover, winter 2005-06),
Modernism Magazine (Winter 2003-04), Food & Wine (December 2003) and
Wallpaper* Magazine (Top of the Glass).
We are open to the trade and public. Please visit the press section of this
website to see some of the many articles written about Lobel Modern. |
