This series in cast resin was made for a special collection shown at Bloomingdales in their Home Department in the 1970’s. Rare unique wood sculpture table, superbly hand-crafted organic sweeping and curving form in wood with thick customized glass top by Philip LaVerne, American 1966 (signed "Philip LaVerne” engraved into the wood on top). In 1966 Philip LaVerne experimented with wood sculptures for a short time so there are very few. This piece is constructed of rectangular wood blocks, each cut and molded to form a continuous curvaceous form which is supremely difficult. The craftsmanship is off the charts. The glass top was designed for the base.
