Large hand-blown glass vase with unique murrhines with avventurine by Vittorio Ferro, Murano Italy, 2002 (signed and dated on bottom). Vittorio Ferro, born in 1932, was a first rate glass master who spent many years working at Fratelli Toso in the 1950’s and 60’s, blowing some of their most important pieces. He always made his own unique murrhines. In 1963 he created a collection designed by Renato and Giusto Toso with which he participated in the Murano Glass Exhibition. In 1964 at the XXXII and in 1966 at the XXXIII Venice Biennale, works by him based on a design by Renato Toso were exhibited. In 1969 he won the "Borselle d'Oro" for the original drawings made with traditional techniques. He has received prestigious awards, collaborated with artists and designers, exhibiting in Italy, Japan, the USA. He taught in Finland, Nuutajarvi Glass Factory, and collaborated with the Abate Zanetti School of Glass. Vittorio died at the age of 80 in 2012. This piece is spectacular in person.
