Exceptional "Chan" dining table in patinated and engraved bronze and pewter with hand painted colorful enamels by Philip and Kelvin Laverne, 1960's (signed on table top "PHILIP KELVIN LAVERNE"). The beautiful pedestal bases are done in patinated bronze and pewter with rich enamel cloisonne. The coloration and condition are extraordinary. This is a work of art.

ALCHEMY: THE ART OF PHILIP AND KELVIN LAVERNE written by Evan Lobel with Kelvin LaVerne, published by Pointed Leaf Press in 2024, this table is shown on page 49 in the section titled Historical Civilization Series . The caption from the LaVerne catalog reads, “Chinese artistry at its peak under the Chan Dynasty is recreated in this intricately carved design. We see peasants carrying a sacred gift to the Emperor’s child. Delicately wrought leaves and figures, combine with a rich variety of multicolored patinas to create the Chinoiserie top. The design is credited as inspiring and evoking French and English periods of furniture design.”
