"Kuan Su" painting in patinated and engraved bronze and pewter with hand-applied blue enamels by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960's (signed “P+K LaVerne” on bottom of frame). This design incorporates the Kuan (interlocking circles) motif which is supposed to evoke something from the past. It’s a beautiful work of art.

ALCHEMY: THE ART OF PHILIP AND KELVIN LAVERNE written by Evan Lobel with Kelvin LaVerne, published by Pointed Leaf Press in 2024, the Kuan Su design is shown on page 81 in the section titled Historical Civilization Series. The caption reads, “The floral design, a theme the LaVernes came back to over and over, is engraved along with the intricate Kuan motif (interlocking circles), which is meant to evoke Chinoiserie decor from the 18th century.“
