Evan Lobel

Rare and exceptional "Imperial Palace Coffee Table" in patinated and engraved bronze and pewter subtle hand-painted enamels and curved ends and sculptural base by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1970's (with original gallery label on bottom). ALCHEMY: THE ART OF PHILIP AND KELVIN LAVERNE written by Evan Lobel with Kelvin LaVerne, published by Pointed Leaf Press in 2024, this important sculpture is shown on pages 72-73 in the section titled Historical Civilization Series. The caption reads, “The IMPERIAL PALACE coffee table was created in the 1970s. The shape of the top is perfectly matched to the shape of the base. Because the sculptural form is the focal point of this design, the engraved top has only very subtle coloration.” It is shown with the original black and white ad.
