Large round "Etruscan Spiral” Coffee Table in patinated and engraved bronze and pewter with repeating abstract circular motif by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960's (signed “Philip Kelvin LaVerne” on base). The base is a sculpture in and of itself. This is the largest version of this coffee table that was produced. It’s visually arresting with the continuous intricate pattern on top.

Philip & Kelvin LaVerne Rare Large "Fragonard Pierced" Coffee Table 1967 (Signed and Dated)

Exceptional and important large “Fragonard Pierced" coffee table in patinated and pierced bronze, creating intricate fretwork with enamel cloisonne and gold and copper leaf with an inset glass top, by Philip and Kelvin Laverne, American 1967 (signed “Philip Kelvin LaVerne / 67”). Enamel cloisonne enhances the depth of the colors. This is the largest Fragonard Pierced coffee table done by the LaVernes. All of the negative space was cut out by Kelvin’s hand. This series is one of the most complicated and beautiful of all the LaVerne tables.

The caption reads, “This FRAGONARD PIERCED coffee table was created in 1967 and the year is engraved along with the LaVernes’ signature. This is the largest known example of this series, measureing 60 inches wide, 17 inches high and 36 inches deep. There were always Chinese figures in this series with at least one animal. Here, the figure on the right is holding a bird.”

"The Creation of Man,” a coffee table in patinated bronze and pewter with engraved tribute to the iconic painting by Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel with hand-painted enamels by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960's (signed “Phillip-Kelvin LaVerne after Michelangelo” on top). This is an early LaVerne work. The relief set against patinated bronze is simply magnificent.

Paul Evans Rare and Important Sculptured Metal Dining Table 1970 (signed and dated) - SOLD

Rare Sculptured Metal Dining Table in bronzed resin with glass top by Paul Evans for Directional Furniture, American 1970 (signed "PE 70”). This series is very rare and this particular table exemplifies the art that is Paul Evans. This table has not been shown in the market before. This piece was created from a mixture of epoxy resin and sand applied to a metal and plywood base and sculpted into various swirls, drips and other patterns. Once hardened, the piece was sandblasted, sprayed with an atomized bronze finish, varnished, blown with a torch to provide a smoky look, polished, and then varnished again. The resulting work has a metallic sheen but is lightweight compared with something made of cast bronze.

Private Collection, New Jersey, since purchase from the artist’s studio.

Rare and important hand-welded and patinated bronze sculpture dining table “Symphony” with glass top by Philip and Kelvin LaVerne, American 1970’s (signed “Philip Kelvin LaVerne”). According to Kelvin LaVerne, only 3 were made. Philip and Kelvin LaVerne often used the arts as their inspiration; and music served as inspiration for several of their works. It was inspired by a symphony by Beethoven. This piece has a physical harmony and balance which is extraordinary. This table is a LaVerne masterpiece. This table can accommodate almost any size glass top.

The base of this important sculpture was inspired by a curved line drawn by Beethoven on the manuscript for Eroica after he removed its dedication to Napoleon Bonaparte. It was originally dedicated to Napoleon Bonaparte as Beethoven was an admirer until Napoleon declared himself emperor.”

Rare and important “Repose” or “Brooding Woman” coffee table with cast bronze female nude on a patinated base with bronze tones, welded cords and glass top by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1970s (signed “Philip Kelvin LaVerne” on base). This work was based on a model who posed for the LaVernes who was having a stressful day. So they captured her emotions for this sculpture. This sculpture was designed with the glass integral to the weightiness of the emotions of the model.
