This stunning cabinet is a tour de force of artisanship. No detail has been overlooked. Showcasing scenes from the Chan Dynasty, this is a LaVerne masterwork.

Anzolo Fuga Rare and Stunning Set of 11 Hand-Blown Astrale Plates/Bowls Early-1960s

Rare set of 11 Astrale hand-blown plates/shallow bowls with unique large complex murrhine at bottom by Anzolo Fuga for Arte Vetraria Muranese (A.V.E.M.), Italy early-1960's. This set includes 6 plates and 4 shallow bowls and 1 smaller plate that retains the original AVEM stickers. These were incredibly hard to execute. There are only a few pieces from the Astrale Series known to exist, including one shown in the 1960 Biennale. These is a mesmerizing set by Anzolo Fuga.

Provenance:
Evan Lobel purchased these pieces directly from A.V.E.M. in 2001 as part of a large collection of pieces stored there from the 1940’s, 1950’s and 60’s.

Reference:
Anzolo Fuga, Murano Glass Artist by Rosa Barovier-Mentasti, Acanthus Press 2005, a general description of the Astrale Series 1960-65 on page 169, this set was cataloged by Rosa Barovier-Mentasti for her book and one piece from this set is shown on page 170 with the description, “Astrale plate, one of six, variation, 1960-65, diam. 24.75 cm.”

Paul Evans Rare and Important "Argente" 2-Door Cabinet 1969 (Signed and Dated) - SOLD

Rare and important Argente 2 door cabinet in welded and enameled aluminum with natural cleft slate top by Paul Evans, American 1969 (signed and dated “Paul Evans 69” on bottom of right door). The interior has the original red lacquer wash. His series “Argente,” which is Latin for silver, has become especially prized in recent decades, both for its melding of technology with hand-crafted touches and the rarity of the works. The Argente Series was only in production for a few years (1965-72). This piece is finished superbly on both the exterior and interior.
