Lobel Modern, opened in 1998 by Evan Lobel, showcases furniture, lighting, hand-blown glass and art by important designers from the 1940's thru the 1980's. Located in the Four Points section of lower Manhattan.

Extraordinary hand carved sculpture “The Ancient” in Italian marble on an ebonized wood base by Naomi Feinberg, American 1977 (signed “NF 77” on back of sculpture)

Naomi Feinberg was a New York based sculptor who worked primarily in stone. She began sculpting in the 1940’s and became affiliated with artist group Studio 725 which was a consortium of woman artists working in Union Square NYC. She studied sculpture with Philip Darling, Jose De Creeft, and Lorrie Goulet at the New School, the Museum of Modern Art, the Art Students League, and the School of Visual Arts A relative late comer to the art world, Naomi Feinberg emerged as highly accomplished, multi-faceted artist who juggled architectural coherence with a preoccupation with the human form, to create works that are both experimental and primitive. She is included in the archives of American art at the Smithsonian Institute.

Provenance:  The personal collection of the artist thence her family after her death. In 2020 Lobel Modern did an exhibition on her work:  Naomi Feinberg:  A Woman Sculpting in a Man's World.

Stunning hand-blown glass table lamp with green and blue murrhines by Ermanno Toso for Fratelli Toso, Murano Italy, 1959. New polished brass base and 3 socket assembly customized by Lobel Modern. Rewired with silk cord.

Venetian Glass 1890-1990 by Rosa Barovier Mentasti, published by Arsenale Editrice in 1992, a photo on page 122 shows a similar piece.

Pair of stunning large wall sconces in polished brass with hand-cut angular glass inserts by Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte, Italy 1950's. These sconces have been polished and newly rewired.

Stunning Italian Credenza with Fontana Arte Glass Elements 1950s

Beautifully crafted credenza in Italian walnut with vertical glass slab supports and glass handles by Fontana Arte on the bookmatched burl doors with brass accents, Italian 1950's. There is antique mirror trim around the doors. This piece is absolutely stunning and would be a show stopper in any interior.
