Stunning and iconic “Chan” painting in patinated and engraved bronze and pewter with vibrant blue, green and orange hand-painted enamels and gold and copper leaf by Philip and Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960s (signed “Philip. Kelvin LaVerne” on front). The Chinese scene depicted in this series is captivating, and the coloration of this piece is superb.

The caption from the LaVerne catalog reads, “Chinese artistry at its peak under the Chan Dynasty, is recreated in this intricately carved design. We see peasants carrying a sacred gift to the Emperor’s child. Delicately wrought leaves and figures, combine with a rich variety of multicolored patinas to create the Chinoiserie top. The design is credited as inspiring and evoking French and English periods of furniture.”
