Anzolo Fuga Rare and Important Large Hand-Blown Glass Bird Sculpture Ca. 1957

Rare and important hand-blown glass bird on a branch with wings open, model 13884, by Anzolo Fuga for Arte Vetraria Muranese (A.V.E.M.), Murano Italy c. 1957. The work is done with sommerso technique and the colors and execution of the wings are nothing short of extraordinary. It retains the original AVEM paper stickers. This is a Fuga masterpiece.

"The Untrammeled Mood of the Artist at Work", a rare figural wall sculpture in solid pewter by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960's (signed on front “Philip Kelvin LaVerne”). The LaVernes did a small series of cast wall sculptures incorporating nude figures set in a painter’s studio in both solid bronze or pewter in the 1960’s. These hung in the original LaVerne Gallery. This is a rare collectors work of art and includes the original gallery label.

Philip and Kelvin LaVerne Rare "Pygmalion" Engraved Painting 1960s (Signed)

Exceptional "Pygmalion" painting in patinated and engraved bronze and pewter with complex scene in enamel cloisonne with hand-brazed sculptured frame by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960's (signed “Philip Kelvin LaVerne” on front of painting). This work retains the Seymour Gallery label on the back. The Seymour Gallery was located inside the LaVerne Gallery and showcased their finest artworks. The LaVerne's experimented with assymetry in several of their works. The hand-brazed bronze sculptured frame adds another artistic element to this artwork. This artwork is magnificent.

Rare and important sculpture "Generation" with cast bronze figures and table top in patinated and engraved bronze and pewter with enamel cloisonne by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, 1970’s (signed, “Phillip K. Laverne” on table top.) Retains original showroom label with the title, “Admiration” - this was the original title of this work and the LaVernes decided that Generation was a better descriptive title so they changed it. There is support under the table top so that this piece can also serve as a coffee table or bench. The pieces from the Cast Series are among the LaVernes’ most important.

Philip and Kelvin LaVerne "Leda and the Swan" Unique Wall Sculpture 1960s (Signed) - SOLD

Unique wall sculpture in Hydro Stone plaster with bronze frame depicting the myth of Leda and the Swan by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960's (signed “PK LaVerne” on frame). Leda and the Swan is a Greek myth which the LaVernes revisited with several different works. In the myth, Zeus transforms himself into a beautiful swan and seduces Leda who he is in love with. This work is loosely based on a painting done by Michelangelo in 1530. The LaVernes were very knowledgeable about art history and had a deep fascination with historical cultures. It’s a stunning work of art.

Rare pierced bronze painting "Introspection" in patinated and engraved bronze and pewter with vibrant hand painted enamels by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1970's (Signed “Kelvin P. LaVerne” on bottom right). Pierced bronze paintings are a genre which was created by the LaVernes and are among their most complex and beautiful works. Behind the front of the painting, which has sections that have been delicately cut away by hand, is a back panel which adds color and depth to the work.

Philip and Kelvin LaVerne Pair of Stunning "Galatea" Bronze Table Lamps 1970s (Signed) - SOLD

Pair of rare and unique Galatea Table Lamps with cast female nude sculptures set on patinated bronze bases by Philip and Kelvin LaVerne, American 1970's (signed “P.K. LaVerne” on back of each base, as well as “Philip Kelvin LaVerne” on one of the sculptures’ legs). The female figures are based on the myth of Pygmalion, a sculptor who makes an ivory statue representing his ideal woman and then falls in love with his own creation, which he names Galatea; the goddess Venus brings the statue to life in answer to his prayer. The LaVernes did a number of enchanting artworks based on mythology. These lamps are absolutely stunning. They have been rewired with new sockets and silk cords.

"The Passion", a unique Impressionist painting on patinated and engraved bronze and pewter with blue enamels, intricate design and stepped bronze framing by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1970 (signed “Philip Kelvin LaVerne” in metal with original gallery label on back). The LaVernes were very adept at painting and sculpting the human body. The gallery label on the back is from the Seymour Gallery which was where the LaVernes showed their finest artworks.
