Rare and unique hand-blown glass low vase, opaline glass with orange rods and polychrome murrhines by Anzolo Fuga for A.V.E.M., Murano Italy 1957-60. The modern shape and colorful design are really something special.

Anzolo Fuga Murano Glass Artist, Designs for A.V.E.M. by Rosa Barovier Mentasti and published by Acanthus Press is 2005, section titled “Pavone”, this piece is shown on page 107 with the text, “Pavone bowl, opaline glass, 1957-60, H: 15 cm, New York, Evan Lobel collection.”

Vladimir Kagan Rare Serving Cart with Incredible Hand-Thrown Ceramic Tiles 1950 - SOLD

Rare and important serving cart on castors in walnut with retractable top incorporating inset hand-thrown ceramic tiles showing posed dancers by Alexandra Kasuba for Vladimir Kagan, American 1950. Kasuba did unique hand-thrown tiles with exuberant midcentury style and colors for Kagan in 1949 and 1950. The figural motif is simply remarkable.

Reference:
The Complete Kagan published by Pointed Leaf Press LLC in 2004, page 56 shows photographs of numerous pieces Kagan designed which incorporated Kasuba’s handmade tile work.

Martin Kline’s (b. 1961) work references Western and Eastern cultural practices, drawing from art history, philosophy and nature. He is mostly known for his work in encaustic, the mixing of pigment with bees and synthetic wax. A technique that is as challenging to perfect as it is compelling to behold, Martin creates incredibly textured surfaces where the works become a phenomenological experience for the viewer. Kline’s work is the subject of many critical essays by noted authors, including Carter Ratcliff and Barbara Rose. His work is in many private public collections here and abroad including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Whitney, The Brooklyn Museum of Art among many others.

Sica Abstract Metallic Art Under Lucite 1980s - SOLD

Abstract metallic art on paper in boxed out lucite case by Sica, American 1980's (signed on lower right front).

Born in 1932 in New York City, SICA began her artistic career in 1950 while studying at The Art Students League of New York, and later at the Pratt Graphics Workshop, New York. She also traveled extensively, eventually settling in Saigon, Vietnam, as Duy Than's apprentice, then in Athens, Greece, with Emanuel Pilidikis.

She bolstered her reputation simultaneously by participating in several international art invitationals and symposiums. Aside from Vietnam and Greece, SICA has lived in England, Spain and Yugoslavia, and her oeuvre reflects an enlightened perspective of the world, its people and its cultures. SICA's work is in the collections of Le Musée Moderne de la Ville de Paris, The Victoria and Albert Museum, London, The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, The Los Angeles Museum, The Brooklyn Museum,The Miami Museum of Fine Arts and New York University in addition to many other fine arts institutions and private collections.
