Philip and Kelvin LaVerne Rare 4-Door "Chinois Cabinet" 1960s (Signed)

Rare and stunning "Chinois Cabinet" with 4 doors, each with a beautiful Chinese scene in patinated and engraved bronze and pewter with vibrant hand-painted enamels and a hand-chased bronze plinth base by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960's (signed four times, “Philip Kelvin LaVerne” on each door). The interior is lacquered red with shelves and a felt-lined drawer trimmed in patinated bronze. The top, sides and drawer are engraved with the Kuan motif which is meant to evoke something from the past.

ALCHEMY: THE ART OF PHILIP AND KELVIN LAVERNE written by Evan Lobel with Kelvin LaVerne, published by Pointed Leaf Press in 2024, this cabinet is shown on page 77 in the section titled Historical Civilization Series. It is shown in the original advertisement from the 1980’s which states, “Hand sculptured in bronze and pewter, a cabinet inspired by French and Oriental love of nature. Whimsical scenes of birds, fishermen and flowers, enhanced by enamels. Buried in earth to achieve patinas of subtle beauty. A masterpiece of detail and simplicity - Signed - Philip and Kelvin LaVerne.”

Paul Evans Important "Sculpture Front Cabinet" 1979

Rare and important “Sculpture Front Cabinet” in welded and patinated steel, color pigments, 24 karat gold leaf, painted wood with original granite top by Paul Evans, American 1979. This piece comes with the original invoice from The Paul Evans Studio showing a drawing of this piece. On the invoice it states: "No slate.  Oxidation to emphasize coloration of granite sample." It is a unique piece. Coloration is superb. This is a rare master work by Paul Evans.

Beautifully tailored and finished 3-door credenza in high gloss black lacquer with engraved brass pulls by Tommi Parzinger for Parzinger Originals, American 1950's (signed “Parzinger Originals” on inside of drawer). The interior has shelves and a felt lined drawer. The craftsmanship of this piece is absolutely superb. Relacquered by Lobel Modern. Pulls have been cleaned, polished and lacquered by Lobel Modern. Philip and Kelvin LaVerne Rare and Important "Tao Cabinet" 1970s (Signed) - ON HOLD

Rare and important large 4 door "Tao Cabinet" in patinated bronze and pewter with continuous engraved Chinese scene, hand-painted with vibrant enamels in green, blue, and orange, with a hand-chased bronze plinth base by Philip and Kelvin LaVerne, American 1970's (signed “Philip + Kelvin LaVerne” on front). This piece retains its original gallery label on the back which is hand-signed by Philip LaVerne. There is intricate fretwork on the drawers, the interior is impeccably finished with hand-painted malachite lacquer, and the drawers and shelves are trimmed in bronze. Drawers are lined with felt. This is the largest and most impressive of the LaVernes’ cabinets. The Tao philosophy was primarily concerned with the importance of man in relation to his surroundings and architecture. The top and sides are engraved with the Kuan— interlocking circles—design which is meant to evoke something from the past.

Vladimir Kagan One-of-a-Kind Credenza with Carved Center Panels 1940s (Signed)

Extraordinary one-of-a-kind large credenza in walnut with hand-carved center panels with illuminated interior liquor cabinet and bar in the center, dark gray granite inset tops, and flip up top for serving by Vladimir Kagan, 1940's (signed “Kagan Dreyfuss New York / A Vladimir Kagan Design” on back). This is a very rare Kagan masterpiece. The relief carved panels are simply incredible. The bar area shelves are in white laminate so they are impervious to water/alcohol damage, as is the flip up top. There are 2 original florescent lights which are operated with a switch inside. It comes with original keys. We have never seen another example like this one.

Stunning Italian Credenza with Fontana Arte Glass Elements 1950s

Beautifully crafted credenza in Italian walnut with vertical glass slab supports and glass handles by Fontana Arte on the bookmatched burl doors with brass accents, Italian 1950's. There is antique mirror trim around the doors. This piece is absolutely stunning and would be a show stopper in any interior.

Fontana Arte: Gio Ponti, Pietro Chiesa, Max Ingrand by Franco Deboni and published by Allemandi & C. in 2012, there is glass shown with similar attributed to the pulls shown in plate 314, which states the light "made of two thick sheets of profiled and cut glass, with satin finish central parts, c.1960."

Extraordinary 4 door Art Deco credenza in book-matched rosewood with ribbon inlays in pewter and bronze with solid brass artisan center medallion of 3 swimming dolphins and delicate mother-of-pearl inlays around the outside of the front by Dominique, French early-1960’s. One of the most recognized names in Art Deco, Dominique was known for streamlined designs and superb inlays which are both hallmarks of this piece.
