Rare and stunning "Chinois Cabinet" with 4 doors, each with a beautiful Chinese scene in patinated and engraved bronze and pewter with vibrant hand-painted enamels and a hand-chased bronze plinth base by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960's (signed four times, “Philip Kelvin LaVerne” on each door). The interior is lacquered red with shelves and a felt-lined drawer trimmed in patinated bronze. The top, sides and drawer are engraved with the Kuan motif which is meant to evoke something from the past.

It is shown in the original advertisement from the 1980’s which states, “Hand sculptured in bronze and pewter, a cabinet inspired by French and Oriental love of nature. Whimsical scenes of birds, fishermen and flowers, enhanced by enamels. Buried in earth to achieve patinas of subtle beauty.
