Lobel Modern, opened in 1998 by Evan Lobel, showcases furniture, lighting, hand-blown glass and art by important designers from the 1940's thru the 1980's. Located in the Four Points section of lower Manhattan.

Large and exceptional “Passion”, a painting in patinated and engraved bronze and pewter with colorful enamel cloisonne with hand-brazed sculptured frame by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960s (Signed “Philip Kelvin LaVerne” on bottom of painting). This extraordinary work shows two figures. The unique sculptured frame adds sophistication and a sense of movement to the work. This piece hung in the Seymour Gallery, which which was located on the 3rd floor of the LaVerne gallery. It showcased the best artworks by the LaVernes.

As stated on the same page, “Organically shaped bases, shown here as a dining table detail, were the result of the designer’s early fascination with the architecture and growth patterns of arboreal roots and branches.”

Edward Wormley for Dunbar Pair of Iconic Lounge Chairs in Laminated Ash 1954

Pair of masterfully crafted lounge chairs model 5480 in laminated ash with caned back and brass sabots by Edward Wormley for Dunbar, American 1954. These chairs are a tour de force of design. One of the first pieces made of laminated wood, this design stretched the mechanical capabilities of the master woodworkers making Wormley’s pieces. The tapering legs and brass sabot make them incredibly sexy.
