Vladimir Kagan One-of-a-Kind Credenza with Carved Center Panels 1940s (Signed)

Extraordinary one-of-a-kind large credenza in walnut with hand-carved center panels with illuminated interior liquor cabinet and bar in the center, dark gray granite inset tops, and flip up top for serving by Vladimir Kagan, 1940's (signed “Kagan Dreyfuss New York / A Vladimir Kagan Design” on back). This is a very rare Kagan masterpiece. The relief carved panels are simply incredible. The bar area shelves are in white laminate so they are impervious to water/alcohol damage, as is the flip up top. There are 2 original florescent lights which are operated with a switch inside. It comes with original keys. We have never seen another example like this one.

Philip and Kelvin LaVerne "Introspection" Pierced Bronze Painting 1970s (Signed)

Rare pierced bronze painting "Introspection" in patinated and engraved bronze and pewter with vibrant hand painted enamels by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1970's (Signed “Kelvin P. LaVerne” on bottom right). Pierced bronze paintings are a genre which was created by the LaVernes and are among their most complex and beautiful works. Behind the front of the painting, which has sections that have been delicately cut away by hand, is a back panel which adds color and depth to the work.

ALCHEMY: THE ART OF PHILIP AND KELVIN LAVERNE written by Evan Lobel with Kelvin LaVerne, published by Pointed Leaf Press in 2024, this artwork is shown on page 264 in the section THE PAINTINGS. Rare pair of "Chinese Cube Style Tables" in artisan faux goatskin lacquer by Karl Springer, American 1980's. The size of these tables makes them ideal as side tables, bedside tables or coffee tables. Every edge of these tables is hand made as they are curved and contoured. As with all Karl Springer pieces, the lacquer work is superb.

Philip and Kelvin LaVerne Pair of Stunning "Galatea" Bronze Table Lamps 1970s (Signed) - SOLD

Pair of rare and unique Galatea Table Lamps with cast female nude sculptures set on patinated bronze bases by Philip and Kelvin LaVerne, American 1970's (signed “P.K. LaVerne” on back of each base, as well as “Philip Kelvin LaVerne” on one of the sculptures’ legs). The female figures are based on the myth of Pygmalion, a sculptor who makes an ivory statue representing his ideal woman and then falls in love with his own creation, which he names Galatea; the goddess Venus brings the statue to life in answer to his prayer. The LaVernes did a number of enchanting artworks based on mythology. These lamps are absolutely stunning. They have been rewired with new sockets and silk cords.

Rare pair of “Mushroom Tables”, cantilevered with black oval leather tops on solid tubular polished brass bases which fit snugly over heavy lead weights by Karl Springer, American 1990 (both signed and dated “Karl Springer 1990” on underside). The superb design of these tables with heavy solid lead weights for stability is classic Springer. These rare tables were extremely expensive to produce. And they exemplify the master artisanship which made Karl Springer famous. These could be used as coffee, side or occasional tables.
