Exceptional Jansen Cabinet in Grey Burl with Chic Mixed Metals 1970s (Signed) - SOLD

Rare and chic cabinet model AD-362 in grey burl wood with architectural metal accents in chrome, brass and copper by Alain Delon for Jansen, France 1972 (signed on side - see photo). The back and interior are completely finished. These pieces by Alain Delon are very hard to come by. Very few designers could mix three metals with such stunning results.

Paolo Buffa Exceptional Illuminated Liquor Cabinet with Intricate Inlays 1950s

Remarkable liquor cabinet in Italian mahogany with chevron pattern on sides and front with two doors each displaying four exquisitely inlaid fencing motifs by Paolo Buffa, Italy 1950's. Inside are four glass shelves on each door and ten drawers with brass pulls. Original incandescent lights have been replaced with LED lights by Lobel Modern. There is one large display section at the top, and two smaller open sections below. The interior of the cabinet is covered in mirrored panels. It is locked with a brass key and has wonderful decorated legs with engraved brass sabots. Every aspect of this Buffa cabinet is superb.

Philip and Kelvin LaVerne Rare "Pygmalion" Engraved Painting 1960s (Signed)

Exceptional "Pygmalion" painting in patinated and engraved bronze and pewter with complex scene in enamel cloisonne with hand-brazed sculptured frame by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960's (signed “Philip Kelvin LaVerne” on front of painting). This work retains the Seymour Gallery label on the back. The Seymour Gallery was located inside the LaVerne Gallery and showcased their finest artworks. The LaVerne's experimented with assymetry in several of their works. The hand-brazed bronze sculptured frame adds another artistic element to this artwork. This artwork is magnificent.

Reference:
ALCHEMY: THE ART OF PHILIP AND KELVIN LAVERNE written by Evan Lobel with Kelvin LaVerne, published by Pointed Leaf Press in 2024, this painting is shown on page 249 in the section The Paintings. The caption reads, “PYGMALION, a complex assymetrical work in patinated and engraved bronze and pewter and enamel cloisonne with a hand-brazed sculptured frame, was created in the 1970s. Kelvin explains: “According to Ovid in Metamorphoses, the goddess Aphrodite answers the sculptor Pygmalion’s prayer to bring Galatea, a sculpure that he had created and fall in love with, to life. Today, the myth is analogous to a man falling in love with his work.”
