Pair of rare and important end tables, each with 2 doors incorporating antique Japanese printing blocks, by Edward Wormley for Dunbar, Janus Collection, 1957 (signed with Dunbar tags in drawers, paper label on bottom).  These were custom orders tables as the antique Japanese blocks were not a standard option on them.  These are extraordinary representations of the Janus series, which focused on hand crafting in an era when everyone was moving to industrial production with steel and glass.

"Chan" coffee table in patinated and engraved bronze with hand-painted colorful enamels by Philip and Kelvin Laverne, 1960's. Signed on top “Philip + Kelvin LaVerne”. This is the largest size this table was made. It’s impressive and has beautiful coloration.

ALCHEMY: THE ART OF PHILIP AND KELVIN LAVERNE written by Evan Lobel with Kelvin LaVerne, published by Pointed Leaf Press in 2024, The Chan Series is discussed at length in the introduction and tables are shown on pages 44-49 in the section titled Historical Civilization Series. The caption from the LaVerne catalog reads, “Chinese artistry at its peak under the Chan Dynasty is recreated in this intricately carved design. We see peasants carrying a sacred gift to the Emperor’s child. Delicately wrought leaves and figures, combine with a rich variety of multicolored patinas to create the Chinoiserie top. The design is credited as inspiring and evoking French and English periods of furniture design.”

Hand blown blue glass vase with murrhines and gold foil by Giulio Radi for Arte Vetraria Muranese (A.V.E.M.), Murano Italy, circa 1950. Radi's works are beautiful and rare. The gold foil in the glass give it a jewel-like quality.

Reference:
"Art Glass from Murano 1910-1970" by Marc Heiremans published by Arnoldsche in 1993, page A.VE.M. 11, an archival photo from the XXV Biennale of Venice in 1950 shows 3 vases. The vase on the right is a similar form with identical murrhines.

Provenance:
Evan Lobel purchased this pieces directly from A.V.E.M. in 2001 as part of a large collection of pieces stored there from the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s.
